Holbeach C take second place but fail to capitalise

Holbeach C have moved up to second place in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League – but missed out on a chance to capitalise, losing 6-0 on Thursday.

They are five points behind leaders Services C, thanks to a 4-2 win against clubmates Holbeach D in a rearranged game.
However they went down 6-0 to Consti H last week, missing a great opportunity to further close the gap, and allowing Consti to jump from eighth to joint third.
Dan Ashton (O7), Nick Edwards (R7) and Mark Gregory (O42) got the wins against Holbeach D.
Services are holding on to the top spot, having won 5-1 away to Consti E.
Geoff Hemsil (R28) got Services off to a good start before Jack Chilvers (O7) pulled Consti level. He knocked in a 31 break on his way to winning over Shane Cummins (O14).
It was plain sailing for Services from then on though, with Kevin Fitter (O14), Jordan Philpott (R7) and NIgel Cherry (O7) all victorious.
Holbeach D have also moved up the table thanks to a 5-1 win at home to Bourne SC A.
Andy Spearman (R7), Paul Daw (O21), Wayne Forbelets (O21) and Don Monk (O14) were winners for Holbeach, while Chloe Payne (O14) got the single point for Bourne.

Vince Fitter (O35) took the first frame on a re-spot black, followed by wins for Martin Spencer (O21), Chris Dunmore (O35) and Phil Spencer (O7).
Steve Smith (R14) won the final frame to give Boundary a point.
Donington C’s match against Holbeach E saw a number of breaks, as Donington came out 5-1 winners.

Neil Burton (O14), Gary Thewliss (scr) and Paul Cook (O14) took the first three frames to give Whittlesey the win.
Holbeach A climbed to third and pushed Donington A down to fourth after beating them 5-1.
Sean Swinburn (O49) was Holbeach’s only loser, beaten by Kevin Hawes (O7).
Pyramid B have dropped to the foot of the table, after losing 5-1 to friendly foe Pyramid D.

Services D have moved up to fifth place following a 5-1 win away at Donington B.
Phil Burrell (scr) was Donington’s only winner, beating Paul Spicer (O14) 45-5.
Gosberton D are second-from-bottom having lost 4-2 to Consti F, while Holbeach B have dropped a place to eighth after losing 4-2 away at Services B.
Down in Division Three the table has been recalculated after Boundary B withdrew from the league.
All matches already played will be voided and any forthcoming fixtures will become free weeks.
Division leaders Holbeach F didn’t play on Thursday as their match against Consti C was cancelled.
This gave second-placed Consti I a chance to close the gap, but they failed to make the most of it, losing 4-2 at home to third-placed Gosberton C.
James Elliott (O7), Stuart Henderson (scr) and Rob Lockett (R28) were the winners for Gosberton, while John Bellerby (R7) and Stewart Wells (R21) got the points for Consti.
Donington D remain at the foot of the division, having won only one match from eight.
They lost 4-2 to Whittlesey A.
