Holbeach B are crowned Division Two champions

Holbeach B have been crowned Division Two champions in the Spalding and District Snooker League.

A 4-2 win over clubmates Holbeach F handed them the title on Thursday night with a week left to play.

Their winners were Garry Cooke (o21), Pete Mullane (o21) and Charlie Mullane (r28).

Dan Mayfield (o21) and Alex Bourne (o21) got the points for the F team.

It’s all still to play for for the runners-up spot though, with several teams in contention.

Consti F are currently holding that position after a 6-0 whitewash of Donington A moved them up two places.
Winners for them were Darren Stanley (r28), Martyn Stanley (r14), Justyn Stanley (scr), Bryan Turnell (r7) and Robert Adams (o14).

They are on 78 points, the same as Holbeach E, but they have won one game more.

Holbeach E dropped a place after losing 4-2 to friendly foe Holbeach A, who moved up a place to fifth.

Pyramid A also dropped one spot to fourth, after they lost 4-2 to Services B. They are now on 76 points.
Winners for Services were Jason Rose (o28), Jeff Collins (scr) and Alan Hansard (scr).

Gosberton D dropped a place to sixth after losing 4-2 to Pyramid B.

Vic Rouse (r7) won the first frame for Pyramid, before Neil Simmons (o21) hit back for Gosberton.

Dan Hanger (scr) put Gosberton ahead but they couldn’t hold on, with Richard Clark (o14) and Roy Jackson (r14) winning the final two frames.

It was a good week for Whittlesey A who moved up one place to tenth after beating Whittlesey C in a re-arranged match and then getting the better of Pyramid E 5-1 on Thursday night.

It’s a two-horse race in Division One between Pyramid F and Pyramid C.

The F team are still top but only two points separate the teams, after they lost 5-1 to Gosberton A.

Gosberton took the first four frames courtesy of Paul Wright (o7), Alan Jackson (scr), Adam Twigg (o7) and Carl Wand (07), before Ian Clare (scr) salvaged a point for Pyramid.

The C team closed the gap at the top thanks to a 5-1 win over Consti G.
Jason Green (o63) knocked in a 78 clearance in his win over Joe Garland (o7)
Other wins came from George Neary-Phillips (o21), Richard Skellett (o28) and Dave Pearson (o21).

Darren Woodberry (o42) got the solitary point for Consti.

They missed the chance to close in on the leaders though when they lost 4-2 to Services A in a re-arranged game earlier in the week.

Consti H are now in third after beating Donington C 4-2.
Donington started well with wins from Mick Pearl (o14) and Ben Wrigglesworth (o28) but Consti hit back, taking the next three and the win.

Boundary A dropped to fourth after being beaten 5-1 by Consti E.

Sean Jeynes (o14), Gavin Hallgarth (scr), Jason Bates (o77) and Martin Ulyatt (o14) got the wins for Consti.
Pyramid D remain in fifth after losing 4-2 to Services D, but getting a 4-2 win against Holbeach C in a rearranged game.

Services C beat clubmates Services A 4-2, but as they are 13th look likely to be relegated to Division Two.

Holbeach C are also likely to go down, despite a 4-2 win over Holbeach D.

Their winners were Nick Edwards (r14), Terry West (r14) and Mark Gregory (o35).

It’s tight at the top of Division Three with just a single point separating first and second.

Leaders Holbeach G didn’t have a game on Thursday, giving Boundary B a chance to close the gap – and they did just that, beating fourth-placed Consti A 4-2.

They lost the first two but wins from Rich Wilson (o14), Mick Mitchell (r7) and Dougy Lythgoe (o14) gave them the win.

Gosberton B moved into third thanks to a 5-1 win over their C team.

Nigel Goodwin (r14), Warren Driver (r14), Simon Slinger (scr) and Stuart Ruskin (r14) were victorious, with Chris Sibley (r14) snatching a point for the C team.
