Holbeach A leap up standings

Holbeach A have shot up the Spalding & District Billiards League table after enjoying two emphatic victories this week.
A re-arranged match at Pyramid A saw them win 5-2 and then they romped to a 7-0 victory at Donington to move joint top with Consti B, who had no game.
Mick Cooper (o200) was the star of the whitewash, snapping off breaks of 41, 34, 29 and 26, despite a 30 from his opponent Ben Wrigglesworth (scr).
Phil Coaten (o200) and Ben Harding (r20) were the other winners.
The 5-2 win at Pyramid saw Coaten (r90) put Holbeach ahead but Reegan Cooke-Holmes (r80) hit back to level, despite Cooper scoring breaks of 35, 30, 29 and 27. It was left to Harding to chalk up the victory.
Holbeach B could have taken over pole position but crashed 7-0 at home to Pyramid A, who overtook them to move into third place. John Clapton (r110), John Twell (r70) and Reegan Cooke-Holmes (r80) were their winners, with Cooke-Holmes striking a 22 break.
Consti A remain winless after slipping 5-2 at Gosberton who had earlier won 5-2 against Holbeach B to pull away from the bottom of the standings.
Alan Hansard (r20) lifted Consti’s hopes with an opening frame win at Gosberton against Marcus Pell (o40), who struck a 34 break. However, Des Forbes (r50) and Shane White (o40) hit back for victory. White hit breaks of 47, 23 and 22, with opponent Stewart Davies (r40) scoring a 25.
White was also on form against Holbeach with breaks of 33, 31, 27 (x2) and 23 but lost to Neil Harvey (r50) after Pell (20 break) and Forbes had already decided matters. Andy Spearman had a break of 23 for the visitors.
Monday’s other match saw Bourne triumph 5-2 at Pyramid B with wins for Elliott Gaunt (r30) and Lester Gaunt (o20). Neil McLean (r90) brought a lift for the hosts with a win in the third frame.
