Spalding Hockey Club celebrated 60 years and one of its most successful seasons ever with a ball at the South Holland Centre.

Guest of honour was former England and Team GB player Glen Kirkham.
It was attended by almost 200 guests, including past players and sponsors’ representatives.

Club chairman Fred Morris said: “It has been a truly amazing season and this was a fitting way to celebrate.
“We held a separate awards evening to recognise individual and team achievements across all eight teams but felt something more was needed.”

The club has been awarded a Sportivate grant to provide coaching sessions for females aged 15 to 25.
Fred added: “We are very much a family and community club and I would like to thank our many sponsors for their generosity, which contributes to our success and continued growth.
“I would also like to thank James Doolan and Helen Jex for organising the ball, which has raised £3,500 towards the clubhouse funds.
“There was such positive feedback this will now become an annual event.”
