Ford fires treble as Holbeach United bag Boston victory

Josh Ford showed another glimpse of his explosive goal-scoring talents on Saturday as his hat-trick fired Holbeach United to a 3-1 win over Boston United under-21s.

The striker, signed from Wisbech Town over the summer, made it four goals in two pre-season outings with a terrific treble at Carter’s Park.

That ensured that the Tigers lifted the Gerald Starling Memorial Cup and made it two wins on the spin.

Next up for the Darren Jarvis’ side is a home clash with UCL Division One outfit Bourne Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Elsewhere, goals from Dom Goddard, Jonny Allen and Jimmy Ward earned Long Sutton Athletic a 4-1 victory over FC Magnet at London Road.

The friendly, Sutton’s first of the summer, served as Danny Goddard’s first game in charge of the club.

Sutton welcome Downham Town to London Road for their second friendly fixture on Wednesday night (7.30pm).
