High School students hit new heights

Spalding High School is celebrating itss A* and A*-B grades after an excellent set of results.

Students had nine per cent of all grades awarded A* and 60 per cent at least a B depsite government mark downs.
Many subjects achieved above 60% A-B grades, including Art and Design (87%), Criminology (78%), Drama and Theatre Studies (60%), English Language (63%), French (86%), Geography (69%) and History (92%), Law (75%), Maths (63%), Further Maths (80%), Photography (100%) and Textiles (100%). Top performers included: l Elizabeth Gavrila Draghici who achieved four grades A/A and is going to study Biomedical Sciences with a modern language.
l Alice Gamman who achieved three A Levels at grades A/ A who is planning to study Medicine. l Rebecca Fones who achieved three A Levels at grades A/ A who is planning to study Business and Management.
l Molly Ireland (three A* grades) who is taking a gap year.
l Beth McFarlane who achieved three A Levels at grades A/ A who is planning to study Human Biology. l Molly Paxton (four grades A – B) who is planning to study Economics.
l Genna Pogson, (four grades A* to B) who is planning to study Mathematics.
l Lily Prudham (four grades A-C) who is planning to study Biology/Medicine.
l Megan Rowbottom (three A-B grades) who is planning to take a gap year and then study Architecture. l Courtney Webster who achieved three A Levels at grades A/ A and is planning to study for apprenticeship in Education.
l A further thirty-three students (28% of the cohort) achieved all A* – B grades in three or four A Level subjects.
The school’s head Mrs Michelle Anderson. “We are so proud of our Year 13 students who have worked tremendously hard on their sixth form studies over the last two years and achieved some of the best examination results the School has seen.
“There were 356 qualifications taken and their results are testament to their commitment and hard work alongside the support of their parents and carers and the dedication of our experienced staff.
Our students are all progressing on to a number of new opportunities including work, apprenticeships, gap years and for the majority, university.
“We wish all our students the very best of luck and every success in the future. We would like to thank them for helping to make the High School the special place that it is.”
