He’s alright Jack! Spalding starlet Spillett claims British kickboxing crown

Top teenage talent Jack Spillett is celebrating after becoming a British kickboxing champion.

Spillett, who attends Spalding Academy, was at the ICO British Kickboxing Competition on Sunday – and he won the under 40kg 13-17 year old category.

The youngster, who trains two to three times daily six days a week also came third in another category.

Spillett is a member of the Pro Martial Arts School of Kickboxing and is part of their predators team.

Next up for him is the honour of representing England later in the year and he harbours hopes of competing at the World Championships in Russia.

With that in mind, he is hoping to attract local sponsorship to help him achieve that dream.

Parents Laura and Darren Spillett said: “We are incredibly proud of him. Jack is a very hardworking child who has a passion for martial arts.

“He began kickboxing at nine years old and over the past years he has begun competing at a national level.

“Jack has never found learning easy and at aged seven he was diagnosed with Dyslexia.

“This has only made him more determined to be the best he can be.

“He works hard at school and is achieving very well at Spalding Academy.

“Alongside his school work he shows a strong commitment to training.

“His PMAS coaches are fantastic and have given Jack confidence that he can achieve anything he sets his mind to.”
