Helping make gardens grow

Many hands make light work and even the smallest helpers can bring a town to blooming perfection.

When the Holbeach In Bloom team was out and about this week making sure planters were bursting, a group of young supporters were on hand.

Young pupils at Small Saints pre-school were delighted to get their hands dirty for a good cause and their help was greatly appreciated.

Carol and Graham Rudkin spend hours each year with their team ensuring the town is packed with flowers for the summer.

“We really need more help now – when the children arrived I could have cried. It was so lovely to see them and they were so excited,” said Mrs Rudkin.

Holbeach will be blooming once more – but additional help is needed to ensure it remains a floral delight for future residents.

With more than 400 tubs and baskets to be planted and looked after, it’s a mammoth task and extra hands are needed.

This year sees the return of East Midlands In Bloom and judging, scheduled for next month, will take place in a socially distanced way, whatever the guidelines are at the time.

Graham and Carol Rudkin have been working on planting in the town, but there is plenty more to be done.

If anyone can help with this year’s planting, please contact Mr and Mrs Rudkin on 01406 424621.
