Helping bring people together

A Spalding charity that helps alleviate loneliness in the over 50s is on the look-out for new volunteers.

The Meadows has people from across South Holland come to its Sir John van Geest Centre base off Park Road for days of activities and good food.
Dedicated volunteers help bus people to and from the venue while others help out with the many activities put on for attendees.
But the charity needs more people to help out so they provide support for as many who need it as possible.
Maisie Wenham, a member of the management team at The Meadows said: “We are desperate for volunteer drivers – even if they can only offer one morning or afternoon a week.
“It’s the same for escorts for the bus.
“It’s a lovely job and only one and a half hours in the morning or afternoon.
“Day centre volunteers are very scarce.
“If anyone could offer a morning or afternoon that would be fabulous.”
The centre is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.
