Could you help with council litter pick in Spalding?

Volunteers are being urged to help with a litter pick next week.

South Holland District Council’s Litter Blitz event returns this summer with the Spalding Summer Spruce Up taking place on Thursday, August 21 at Spalding Skate Park in Fulney Avenue from 10am until 2pm.

Representatives from local organisations will be joining in with this community effort to tidy up the area.

As well as the litter pick, there will also be stalls offering advice on housing, waste and recycling.
There will be another chance to name the Green Bag Lottery mascot and all volunteers taking part will get free refreshments.

Coun Roger Gambba-Jones, the council’s portfolio holder for waste management, said: “We all hate the sight of litter on our streets, in our parks and open spaces and I often hear people say ‘somebody should do something’.
“Now there is a chance to be a ‘somebody’ and help us blitz the rubbish at one of our most prominent litter hotspots.
“This is a great opportunity to meet other local people who are committed to doing their bit to care for our town and our district.”
