Having a ball fundraising for Mia

A ball held to raise funds for a disabled Cowbit youngster has raised a brilliant £4,500.

The event on Saturday, March 10 was in aid of the Mia and Me Appeal set up by relatives of 19-month-old Mia Clucas who has an abnormal brain and is one of only a few 100 in the world to have Coffin-Siris-Syndrome (CSS).

The money will go towards equipment to aid Mia’s development as she gets older.

The event at Bourne Corn Exchange was put on by Laura Powell, a friend of Mia’s parents Nikki and Andrew Clucas (pictured above).

Laura said: “It was absolutely fantastic.

“I wanted to organise an event where all of Nikki and Andrew’s friends and family could just show how much they’re supporting them at a tough time.

“Raising funds for Mia was secondary to that but I’m so pleased we could raise so much for a beautiful and very special little girl. I can’t believe the amount we raised.”

“The help I got was just amazing – not a single business I approached turned me down. Once they heard Mia’s story they were all willing to help.”

Andrew Clucas, said: “The entire evening was a surreal experience and Nikki and I are so humbled by how generous everybody has been. Knowing that everybody was there to support Mia and her future is incredible and we genuinely can’t thank everybody who was involved enough.

“Special thanks obviously go to Laura, who has done a remarkable job organising everything. Hearing her describe how so many people and companies had pulled together to make sure Mia’s Ball was a success choked us up a little bit.

“We’re also incredibly thankful to all who supplied raffle and auction items on the night. Everything about the event was perfect and we’re proud to have all of these people in our lives.”
