Families are being urged to make Spalding Pumpkin Festival another big hit.
The annual event takes place on Friday, October 9, with the pumpkin parade (6.30pm from Sheep Market) and fireworks display (Market Place, 7.30pm) the highlights.
There’s also daytime entertainment from 11am including a charity market, street entertainment, activities and competitions.
In the evening, there will be live entertainment from local artists including Diamondz DG, The Bourne Borderers and Zebra.
The winner of a fancy dress competition with the theme of pumpkins, horticulture and harvest (main stage, 5.30pm) will lead the parade on the magical pumpkin coach.
Families are invited to join the parade around several of the town centre’s streets with their pumpkins, flags, masks and costumes.
The festivities are organised by South Holland District Council, sponsored by Spalding firm David Bowman Pumpkins Ltd and supported by the Spalding and Welland Rotary Club and Spalding Lions.
Coun Gary Taylor, the council’s portfolio holder for community, said: “The festival is one of the highlights of our events calendar and always proves an enjoyable experience for people of all ages.”
The only roads that will be closed for the whole day on Friday, October 9, are Sheep Market, Market Place and Hall Place.
Other roads to shut as part of rolling closures between 6pm and 8pm in order to allow the parade to pass through:
Station Street
Spring Gardens
London Road
Haverfield Road
Priory Road
High Bridge
The Crescent
Advance notification signs will advertise these closures, however it is expected that these roads will re-open before 8pm.
