Harriet makes waves for charity

A Saracen’s Head swimmer has swum the equivalent of the English Channel.

Harriet Tuckett completed 44 miles (2,900 lengths) of the Castle Sports Swimming Pool to raise money in aid of Diabetes UK.
The feat had to be done over 12 weeks so Harriet swam two miles every other day.
“I love swimming and I grew up in Spain, so I have been swimming for years,” said the 34-year-old chartered linguist, who runs her own language tutoring business. “I am not diabetic, nor is any of my family but I thought it would be a good use of my time to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.
“You could choose to do either 11 or 22 miles, but I thought if you’re going to do it you may as well go all the way.
“I will also be carrying out another charity swim starting in August and raising money this time for Water Aid.”
