Hard work pays off for village parade

A cool Bank Holiday weekend failed to deter visitors from pouring into Moulton Chapel for the annual village parade.

Decorated bicycles joined floats and vintage vehicles in the village on Sunday.

The 39th annual event took months of planning and organisers were delighted that the chilly weather wasn’t an issue.

“It is a good job it wasn’t the day before which was awful,” said Tracey O’Leary, a member of the organising committee.

“We had lots of people and it was a great day. Everyone had made a real effort and worked hard,” she said.

But plans are already under discussion for next year’s big 40th anniversary event which the committee hopes will be bigger than ever.

This year’s parade queen was Emily, with Charlotte and Lexann as princess and the prince was Noah.

Aside from the parade there were stalls, refreshments and entertainment included the Holbeach Town Band, Endana School of Dance and pupils from the village primary school.

“We would always welcome new members on the committee,” added Tracey, specially ahead of the special anniversary event next year.
