Hall set for free music festival

A new free music festival aimed at families is taking place in Ayscoughfee Gardens this Saturday (July 27).

Ayscoughfest will run from 12pm to 8pm in the gardens of the historic hall, and its opening act, Meg McPartlin will also be performing a closing set in Spalding town centre afterwards.
As well as more than eight hours of music there will be vintage fairground rides, facepainting and games.
Singer songwriter and guitarist Meg opens things up at 12pm before rock and pop covers band The Reckless take the stage at 1pm.
Ryan Moody is on at 2pm while the Rock School Bus rocks up at 3pm.
Chelsey Bamford and the One Note Choir are on the stage at 4pm before excellent new Spalding band The Bare Minimum will be giving it the maximum at 4pm.
The country twangs of Stephen Tanner and his band are on at 6pm before local legends Zebra close out the action at Ayscoughfee from 7pm to 8pm.
There is one final performance as everyone in attendance will be invited to a special set by Meg outside the Red Lion in Market Place from 8.30pm.
The event is being put on by the Spalding Town Forum in conjunction with Ayscoughfee Hall, South Holland District Council and Specky and Ginge Ltd.
District councillor Mark Le Sage said: “I’m really looking forward to it.
“This is a family event and it should be a really good day.
“I can’t understand why it hasn’t been done before and hopefully it will attract a few people into the town centre.
“We’re very grateful for everyone who has helped out including Cosmic Sound who provided the PA and stage, Julia Knight and everyone at Ayscoughfee and at Specky and Ginge for the publicity.”
