Guides’ recipes for success

Two guides have picked up prestigious awards.
Freya Andrew and Florence Sweetland, of the 1st Pinchbeck (St Mary) Guides, have been awarded with their Silver and Bronze Guiding Awards at a recent meeting.
Both girls are 13 with Freya the first Guide in the unit to reach that level.
A spokesman for 1st Pinchbeck Guides said: “As part of the awards both girls had completed their Guiding history and Backwoods Cooking badges as well as two skills builders, ‘Have Adventures’ and ‘Know Myself’.
“Amongst other things, they learned about Guides during the Second World War and during the summer some time was spent cooking over open fires.
“The tin can cooking proved very popular.
“In addition, Freya had already completed her confectionery and mixology badges and two other skills builders covering first aid and communication.”
