A brand new free Live Music and Motorbikes event is coming to Spalding town centre ahead of a recreation of a legendary gig to come in 2027.
It will take place on Sunday, August 9 and be free to enter.
It’s being organised by the Spalding Town Business Improvement District in conjunction with local man Colin Ward who runs the events company Live Promotion.
It’s also being described as ‘an introductory event’ as both are working together on a free festival to mark the BBQ67 anniversary celebrations coming in 2027.
Live Music and Motorbikes will see music played from 12 noon to 6pm.
“There is strong interest from local musicians to perform in the town, and this event is a great opportunity for them to get involved,” said Sarah Fletcher from Spalding BID. “We are also pleased to confirm that the event will be free for all visitors, helping ensure it’s accessible to everyone.”
Mr Ward played with the group Sound Force Five alongside Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Cream on the bill of the original BBQ67 and he’s working with the BID on a follow up as well as the group Past Present Possible set up to mark the event.
“Spalding BID is already working with PastPresentPossible on how the town can best recognise and celebrate this important milestone in our town’s history,” a BID spokesman said. “Past Present Possible will focus on the cultural and heritage story of BBQ67, while Spalding BID will lead on organising a major live music event scheduled for May 29 2027.”
