Group get ready for festival display in Spalding town centre

You could help play a part in a new festival heading to South Holland next month.

The South Holland Outdoor Festival is being put on by the district council which is planning events throughout the district.

Many of the plans are still being kept under wraps but Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS) are busy preparing for a role they’re involved in with Spalding Town Centre.

And the group, which celebrated its 150th anniversary last year, say the project is the perfect opportunity to get involved with them.

Chair Jodie Schweikhardt, said: “The district council contacted us as they wanted us to help out with the festival.

“We’re working on a kind of history, walking tour for people to take part in, going from one group of actors to another who’ll be providing clues as to where in the town they should head next.

“There’s going to be 20 to 30 actors involved on the day over 15 stations and it’s quite a challenge to put on.

“It would be a great way for anybody to get involved, especially ahead of our next big production later in the year which will be Ghost.”

For more information on SADOS you can visit their Facebook page.

The South Holland Outdoor Festival is set to take place at various locations throughout next month.

A South Holland District Council spokesman said: “The festival is a series of events and activities taking place across the district this August, including in our town centres, parks, public spaces and out in our beautiful countryside.

“There will be a variety of activities for all ages to take part in, including sports, arts, music and other entertainment, with more details being announced in the coming weeks by our Communities team at SHDC_Communities on Facebook.”
