Group clubs together for charity

Golfers have raised over a grand for a charity that provides supporting living in the county.

Every Thursday the Spalding Golf Club Social Group meet up at the club to play paying £2 to enter.
Of that £1 goes to the winner, 50p towards a special annual dinner and 50p to a charity.
They held that dinner last week and invited Tess Boyes of Lincolnshire Community Trust down.
The group of around 40 golfers raised just over £500 over the year, but working with The Big Give, a two-week initiative to double fundraising efforts, it actually was able to donate £1,125.
The social group’s John Goode’s daughter lives in accommodation overseen by the Lincolnshire Community Trust.
“They do a fantastic job,” he said. “Our social group is good and we’re really pleased to be able to help a charity too.”
Mrs Boyes said: “It’s a wonderful gesture and we can’t thank the group enough.”
The social group plans to raise money next year for Spalding’s Agape Food Bank.
