A potentially feisty derby between Long Sutton and Tydd St Mary is the highlight of Sunday’s UCL/PDFL Groundhop weekend fixtures.
The ChromaSport PDFL Division One clash at London Road is a repeat of last season’s Spalding Inter-Services Trophy final, which Tydd won 7-6 on penalties back in April.
Four players were sent off that day, meaning there is likely to be a bit of needle between the two South Holland rivals.
The game marks Omar Joof’s first competitive clash in charge of the Magpies, having replaced Matt Cawthorn over the summer.
For Tydd, it’s their first-ever fixture in PDFL Division One, having earned promotion in each of their last two seasons.
Ex-Holbeach United striker Tommy Treacher could line-up for the Magpies after returning to the club over the weekend, while the Saints could have Jake Clitheroe in their side.
With the game part of the Groundhop weekend, there is a charge for fans to attend. It’s £4 for adults, with under-16s going free.
Kick-off is 11am, with hot and cold refreshments available at the ground, while there will be a raffle and memorabilia stall.
