Murder investigation launched after death of man in Spalding street

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in a Spalding street this afternoon (Monday, November 11).

Lincolnshire Police say they were called at 2.37pm this afternoon to Green Lane after an incident at its junction at St Thomas’ Road.

Two men have been arrested as a result of the incident, one aged 33 on suspicion of murder and one, 47, on suspicion of affray.

Lincolnshire Police have only said the man who died is 45. They’ve not said how his death came about.

A police statement released around 9.30pm says: “We have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Spalding.

“We received a call at 2.37pm today reporting an incident at the junction of Green Lane and St Thomas Road.

“A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a further 47-year-old man has been arrested arrest for affray. Both remain in police custody.

“Green Lane remains closed up to Knipe Avenue while officers carry out their investigations.

“We are appealing for any information around the circumstances of this incident. If anyone who has not yet spoken with our officers has any information, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from Aldi to the incident location, please make us aware via 101, quoting Inc 237 of 11 November 2024.”

One member of the public contacted The Voice to say armed police were in the area.

A tent has been up in front of a bungalow where forensics are currently working.

South Holland Police earlier urged people to avoid the area.
