Sisters Jasmin (24) and Laura Congreve (21) ran their longest race yet when they took part in The Great North Run in Newcastle, to raise money for charity.
The sisters, who grew up in Gedney Hill, lost their mother six years ago. and now fundraise to raise awareness for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Laura said: “This is a charity very close to our hearts. The charity works to recruit donors of stem cells and hold a register which they use to find matches to enable stem cell transplants for patients with blood cancers such as leukaemia.”
They also urge people to actively help the charity. “If you’re aged 16-30, then it would be great if you’d consider signing up to the register.
“All you need to do is provide a spit sample to go on the register and if matched in the future be able to help someone who needs a stem cell transplant.”
