Our top sides enjoyed a good day, with Spalding United extending their unbeaten run under new management and Holbeach United winning 5-0.
The Tulips earned a point at Rugby Town with a 1-1 draw. Defender Paul Walker headed them into the lead shortly before half-time but Callum Powell grabbed a deserved point for the home side with a leveller midway through the second half.
The Tulips remain fourth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Stafford Rangers, with a match in hand. Next fixture for Marcus Ebdon’s side is home to Market Drayton Town on Saturday, December 5 (3pm).
At Carter’s Park, Holbeach United clinically despatched Harborough Town.
It was a great day for Darren Jarvis’s flowing side as they made ground on the top two.
League leaders Leicester Nirvana, whose home match with Huntingdon Town was called off reportedly due to the visitors being unable to field a side.
And with second-placed Newport Pagnell Town beaten 2-1 at Jarvis’s former side Peterborough Northern Star, the Tigers are in third place, 13 points off the top with three matches in hand.
Lee Beeson scored in either half – one a penalty after he himself had been brought down – and Jordan Thomas, Jake Clitheroe and Gary King notched too.
Jarvis said: “With some other results going our way too, it’s been a satisfying day. We’re in a good position after the disappointment of the FA Vase exit.”
The Tigers’ scheduled league trip to Deeping Rangers on Tuesday (December 1) has been postponed until Tuesday, December 8 due to Deeping being in cup action with Boston Town. Next action for the Tigers is a league trip to Oadby Town on Saturday, December 5.
