Grammar School get kitted out

Spalding Grammar School are off to a winning start in their brand new kit thanks to a local company.

The 1st XI’s new kindly provided and sponsored by local civil engineering company CG Godfrey Ltd.

Prior to the team’s first home match of the season, the company’s Matthew Morley visited the team to present them with their new kits and supported the team as they sealed a comfortable victory over St George’s Academy.

On receipt of the new kit, the captaincy team of Mako Gomba, Jamie Graham, and Adam Day were thrilled and said the generous sponsorship helped to spur the team victory.

Despite playing the better football, Spalding struggled to take the lead until near the stroke of half time, when Josh Ford struck a deflected shot from the edge of the penalty area.

In the second half Spalding exploited the wide areas more effectively, providing a raft of chances, two of which were converted coolly by Ford and Gomba.

The victory helps balance Spalding’s season, after a tight loss to Carre’s Grammar in the first game of the new campaign.
