Twenty volunteers spent over two hours cleaning graffiti from Spalding’s riverside on Sunday.(April 24)
Graffiti is a regular item brought up at The Community Riverside Forum meetings.
So with the help of town business Premier Property Management, which supplied materials and manpower, social group Spotless Spalding got to work on the clean-up.
Spotless Spalding organiser Coun Jack McLean said: “Thanks to the unparalleled contributions of PPM and initiative of so many volunteers, the whole process has been immensely satisfying.
“This was new to many of us but we cracked on and I think we did a great job. Of course while it was great fun, we are all hoping we won’t be needing to do it again.”
Mike Flynn, of PPM, said: “Spalding is a great place to live. Residents have a collective responsibility to look after their environment to avoid it slipping into an unsightly mess. Local businesses are no different.”
When all of the graffiti had been removed, ten litres of a protective chemical was used that will resist any graffiti in the near future.
