Gooderson sinks hole-in-one on popular Spalding Golf Club Captain’s Day

An amazing 160 players took part in Spalding Golf Club’s Captain’s Day this year.

The overall winner on the day – with 40 points – was Tony Bray, who edged Wayne Wallace into second on 39 points.

Chris Ward was third, also on 39 points, with Mark Cooley edging John Farrow to take fourth on countback after both bagged 38 points.

Nearest the pin on the ninth was won by Andy Coaten, while Peter Gooderson aced the award on the 16th with a stunning hole-in-one.

The ladies had the worst of the weather conditions in the afternoon. Maria Williamson, Barbara Newcombe and Linda Prue all won tokens.

The Captain’s guest prize went to Andy Grimwood.

Captain Mike Crampton said: “I would like to thank everyone for their good wishes for what has been the highlight of the Captain’s year so far.”
