Spalding RFC Colts 12
Notts Modern Colts 0
Spalding defeated Nottingham Moderns 12-0 thanks to a promising first half with strong carries from Alex Whelan and Tom Stevenson.
The home side’s first try came from a lineout which was thrown well by Lucas Drew and played into a maul pushed forward by Will Stevenson (captain) and Charles Richards.
This created a gap on the blind side allowing a break by Drew which was supported well by Harry Birch and Ben White who crossed the line to score, converted by James Holland.
Spalding then showed some good handling skills in the backs.
Toby Williams found Riley Carnell in the centre, who quickly moved the ball onto Henry Duce and Birch.
Then after several excellent passes and support play by both players, Duce got across the line bringing the score to 12-0.
The second half started with big tackles and runs from both Spalding and Nottingham Moderns with both teams coming close to scoring.
Spalding came closest with Whelan being held up over the line and held on strongly for a second successive win.
