Golf round-up: Wheeler waltzes to super Stableford win in Tydd St Giles’ top tier

Peter Wheeler topped the scoreboard in Division One of Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s March Stableford Vouchers competition.

His score of 41 points was enough to push Lee Smith into second.

Michael Flint (45 points) topped the Division Two standings, while Lee Newman (38 points) and David Leedle (41 points) led the way in Division Three and Four respectively.

Spalding Golf Club

Spalding Golf Club’s senior side got their season off to a winning start at Boston West on Thursday.

The side, captained by Peter Bridge, prevailed 3.5-1.5 to secure an impressive victory.

Results: Peter Bridge (captain) and Jim Dobson. won 3&1; Peter Julien and Albert Jacobs won 2up; Neil Wilkinson and Monty Brittain lost 7&5; Michael Gould and Ray Andrew lost 3&2; Shaun Gibson and Alan Pritchard halved; Mike Browning and John Keeton won 3&2.
