Golf round-up: Wensum pair win the senior open at Tydd St Giles

Nearly 100 golfers took part in Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s annual Open for senior competitors.

The Wensum Valley Golf Club pair of Mike Stehr and Keith Wright took the honours with two local pairs hot on their heels.

The home club’s Garry Brown and Peter Goodall were second just a point behind and ahead on count back from third placed club colleagues Stephen Horton and Toby North.

Tydd’s Chris Moore won the nearest the pin competition on the 11th hole while Malcolm Miller won the same competition on the fourth, as did Paul Nicholson of Toft Hotel on the eighth and Tim Thomas of Brampton Park on the 16th hole.

Results: Seniors Annual Open: 1st Mike Stehr and Keith Wright 47pts; 2nd Gary Brown and Peter Goodall 46pts (ocb); 3rd Stephen Horton and Toby North 46pts; 4th Eric Savage and Phil Jones 44pts.

Gedney Hill Golf Club

Craig Johnson is celebrating after storming to victory in the President’s Day competition at Gedney Hill Golf Club.

An impressive score of 43 Stableford points steered Johnson to glory, with Rob Bye some four points back in second place (39 points).

Robin Exley (38 points) completed the top three on countback.
