Golf round-up: Perfect start for Spalding’s Elsham County Foursomes title defence

Spalding Golf Club began the defence of their Elsham County Foursomes title with a comfortable 3-0 victory over rivals Boston.

All three pairs won their foursomes games at the Surfleet course, setting up an away tie at Cleethorpes in round two.

Results: James Crampton & Tommy Hull won 7up; Harry Hunt & Craig Gibson won 2up; Jacob Williams & John Summerfield won 2up.

  • Alex Wiles edged to victory in Division One of Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s May Medal.

His score of 68 was enough to edge out Andy Hicks (69), who in turn was one shot ahead of Tim Hines in third.

The other divisional winners were Stephen Jeffries (66) and Terry Langdale (67), who bossed Division Two and Division Three respectively.

Men’s section: May Medal: Division One – 1st Alex Wiles 74-6=68; 2nd Andy Hicks 82-13=69; 3rd Tim Hines 80-10=70.

Division Two – 1st Stephen Jeffries 81-15=66; 2nd Paul Brown 84-17=67; 3rd Terry Pease 86-17=69.
