Sutton Bridge Golf Club

Tom Webster and Andy Parks emerged victorious at Sutton Bridge Golf Club’s seniors open competition last week after a three-way tie at the top.

The course was in good condition thanks to the ground staff and volunteers who worked hard to clear debris from the high winds of the preceding days.

Unfortunately, the weather on the day was a little inclement with heavy downpours – but all players shrugged this off and enjoyed the day.

The event, played in a Stableford pairs better ball format, attracted 40 players. Webster (Spalding GC) and home player Park were the winners on 44 points, with Roy Fox and Charles Clayton edged into second on countback.

Robert and Andrew Sewell, also on 44 points, had to settle for third.

The nearest to the pin on holes two and 11 was M Ladbrook, while on holes six and 15 it was Sewell.

On holes 8 and 17 the pin-seeker was D Askew.

The event also raised £200 for the Air Ambulance.

  • Ladies’ section: Sutton Bridge players Roz Fridholm and Nicky Elphick played in the Orton Meadows Ladies Open with Karen Invensmartin (Orton Member) and gained 2nd place with 89 points.
