Golf round-up: £200 raised at Tydd St Giles’ John Gamble event as Frank takes top spot

An impressive 85 players took part in Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s John Gamble Memorial Members Open competition.

Played as an individual Stableford competition, John Gamble’s wife Jill and daughter Katie presented all the prizes on the day – and were very happy to see such a great turn out.

Jill was also very pleased to receive £200, which was generously donated from the halfway house which supplied drinks and homemade cakes.

She will donate the money to Multiple Sclerosis, and Diabetes UK.

Results: Overall – 1st Frank Howard 46pts; 2nd Lee Smith 42pts. Men’s – 1st Steve Thompson 40pts; 2nd Garry Allen 39pts. Ladies’ – 1st Ann Fiford 35pts; 2nd Linda Walker 33pts. Nearest the pin: 4th – Jamie Stott, 8th – Ashley Ziebart, 11th – Mark Cooper, 16th – Mike McCleery, 18th (in two) – Tim Hines; Longest drive: 13th –James Dack.
