Goals galore on wet and very wild night of action in Voice League

The Championship was the place to be on Monday night as 18 goals across four games lit up The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League.

Played amid wet and wild conditions at Surfleet’s Glen Park, the second tier action got under way with Maly & Team, who have been really impressive since joining the league, turning over previously unbeaten Puyol Pants Down 3-2 to overcome their biggest test yet.

Puyol were gutted to have left empty-handed after an entertaining end-to-end battle.

For the second week running Tomas Urbanavicius was man of the match (MOTM) for Maly, with his ability to find the net and constantly harass the defenders on display once again.

Horse & Groom and Posh Old Boys couldn’t be separated in game two, as they battled out a 3-3 draw.

Both teams favoured attack over defence and it led to a brilliant, pacey game of football that was enjoyed by both sides. Daniel Lambe-Hyner bagged MOTM here.

Simple FC then earned a rare, but deserved, 2-1 win over Nibblesborough FC.

Alex Cammack was starting up top for Simple and he seemed to make an instant difference to the fortunes of his new side as they ended a run of seven successive losses.

Game four saw Pathetic Athletic play their fourth game in the league – and suffered their fourth-straight defeat as in-form Romasexuals triumphed 3-1. Stuart Lee Chase was MOTM in this clash.

The Premier League saw Billy King help return Football Club to their natural title-hunting position as they beat Univeg 3-1.

They scored early and didn’t look back, with last year’s player of the season King on point as MOTM.

Game two saw You’ve Got No Fans make it three matches unbeaten after overcoming the previously most in-form side in the division.

A surprisingly high-scoring game, YGNF were victorious 4-2 over Jimmy Floyd Bottlebank.

You’ve Got No Fans, as always, were sleek and progressive going forward and with MOTM Cameron Walker pulling the strings.

The most eventful game of the evening was a 4-0 win for Polishborough over The Predators.

Result first, this was a brilliant win for the league leaders and one which sees them cement top spot. Dominik Witek was MOTM.

The game was marred by two red cards, however. Dawid Iwaniec (Polishborough) was on the receiving end of a red card after an over-the-top and dangerous foul.

Unfortunately, the victim, Wayne Mansfield reacted in an inappropriate way and was also given his marching orders. Furthermore, Mansfield then went on to spout several racist comments towards his opposite number.

As a result, Mansfield has been given a hefty fine and a two-week suspension from all UKMA affiliated leagues.

The top tier finished with AFC Supernova beating Gladiators 1-0 in a niggly, aggressive and hostile match.

Matt Rose was star-man in this feisty battle.

League One began with Tekkerslovakia setting a new Voice League record as they became the first team to go five games without conceding. They drew 0-0 with ABCDE FC, with Robert Green a heroic MOTM.

How Far Can You Swim? then went down 2-1 to the hard-working and industrious Dynamo Kiev. Tashan Maxwell was MOTM for them.

Nobody would have foreseen Mail Carters snatching a point off title-favourties FC Salad Fingers, but that’s exactly what they managed in game three as they held the league leaders to a 1-1 draw. Luke Forknall impressed as MOTM.

Bowlcut Wanderers FC rounded off the evening with a 4-2 win over Loftus-Cheeky Nando’s in League One’s highest-scoring affair. Michael Cope grabbed a brace but Bowlcut skipper Curtis Roberts-Argrave was MOTM.
