Go-Ride scheme gets boost

Spalding Cycling Club has had a £600 cash boost for the Go Ride scheme which aims to get children interested in cycling.

Ten South Holland District Council members donated money from their budgets for the scheme and a total of £600 was handed over to the club’s John Wallis, who is hoping to become a Go Ride coach.

A spokesman said: “The Go-Ride scheme is designed to attract and engage children into the sport of cycling and, whilst retaining their interest in cycling, is also designed to help develop many skills.

“Not only skills of how to ride and race a bike, but also core life skills such as working as a team, looking after their own health, good diet, staying hydrated and the importance of sleep.

“It goes without saying that fun is also a big element of Go-Ride learning and training,” he added.
