Go-ahead for development of affordable homes

A development consisting of 41 affordable homes outside Crowland has been given final planning permission.

Longhurst Group Ltd has been given full planning permission for the mix of two storey, and two-bed semi-detached and terraced properties on greenfield land east of Crease Drove.

The original outline application for the development was refused by South Holland District Council back in 2016 but allowed on appeal.

The reserved matters application has been passed by South Holland District Council development manager.

The planning officer’s report states the actual make up of how many of the affordable homes will be sold as shared ownership and how many available to rent has not been set and has been incorporated into a Deed of Variation.

But it states the developer is looking at 56 per cent being let.

Four members of the public objected to the application siting concerns over the junction with James Road, flood risks and the impact on industries including Crowland Cranes.

On the potential for noise from the industrial units causing issues for residents living in the new estate, the report states: “The outline application was supported by a Noise Assessment Report, however noise was not an issue considered by the inspector at appeal stage.

“It is therefore not considered to be a material concern for this reserved matters application.”
