Give gifts and make a child’s Christmas

It’s the time of year when we ask our readers to dig deep and help make Christmas very special for local children who may otherwise miss out.

While you are doing your Christmas shopping if you would consider buying an extra gift to donate to our campaign it would be very much appreciated.
The Spalding and South Holland Voice has teamed up with Coun Mark Le Sage, founder of Ella’s Project, to launch the appeal.
Coun Le Sage said: “I’m incredibly proud to be involved with the Give A Gift campaign again this year.
“Let’s make sure no child wakes up on Christmas morning without a present to open.”
Rachel Mayfield, editor of The Spalding and South Holland Voice, added: “Our readers were so generous last year, we’re delighted to be involved again in this, the 12th year of the campaign.
“This appeal really does make a massive difference to local families who would otherwise struggle to get their child a gift. It’s heart warming to think we can all play a part in changing that.”
The campaign was founded by firefighter and businessman Harry Drury but this year, due to work commitments, Mr Drury has been forced to take a step back.
We’ll be delighted if you decide to support the appeal but ask you please not to gift wrap your present – they need to be assessed to ensure children receive suitable toys.
We respectfully ask that the gifts are in new or ‘as new’ condition and we are unable to accept cuddly toys, make-up, toiletries or food and perishable items due to health and safety.
Give A Gift helps ensure less fortunate children aged between three and 14 years old have a gift to open on
Christmas Day. All presents will go to South Holland and Boston Child Services to distribute in time for Christmas.
Collection points this year are: Sainsbury’s, Holland Market, Spalding, Nat West, Market Place, Spalding, Spalding Travel, Calthrops Solicitors, Hall Place, Spalding, Courtyard Footcare, Health and Beauty, 66 Swan Street, Spalding, Frydays Fish and Chip Shop, Crowland, The Noshery, Springfields Garden Centre, Spalding, and Baytree at Weston (Santa’s Grotto booking office).
