Give a Gift Appeal exceeded all expectations thanks to generosity

This year’s Give A Gift Appeal has been the best yet – and that’s thanks to the generosity of Voice readers.

The Spalding and South Holland Voice teamed up with Spalding letting agent We’ll Let Your House to launch the appeal back in November and we kicked it off with £200 of toys bought from The Spalding and South Holland Voice Community Fund.

Thanks to the incredible kindness of Voice readers hundreds of gifts were left at the various drop-off points across South Holland.

Support from local organisations, including Home Start, ensured donations went to families who really needed them this Christmas.

Thanks go to Sainsbury’s, Beales Department Store, South Holland District Council, A1 Property Lettings and Silverwood Garden Centre for being collection points and to Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre at Weston for donating 300 presents to the appeal.

Harry Drury, of We’ll Let Your House, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the businesses and members of the public who donated over 2,300 presents this year to our Give a Gift Campaign, giving special thanks to Baytree Garden Centre and Carsen UK who made big donations.

“I would also like to thank Silverwood Garden Centre and A1 Property Lettings for becoming collection points and finally a big thank you to our partners, The Voice, SHDC, Sainsbury’s, Beales and my team at WLYH. Special recognition must go to Rachel at The Voice for her wrapping marathon!

“I started the campaign three years ago in order to help the families of children who may not receive a Christmas present on Christmas morning in South Holland.

“I am pleased that we have had another extremely successful year and look forward to helping even more children and families next year.

“Christmas is not about receiving presents but it is about giving and the community within our district have done a fantastic job of representing this important quality at such a difficult time of year for so many people. Thank you.”
