Getting Wiggy with it to raise charity cash

Staff at Lincolnshire Co-op’s Long Sutton branch let fundraising go to their head as they swapped normal hairstyles for outrageous wigs – to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Quiz sheets, a “where’s the wig” game for customers to play, book sales, bake sales, raffles and sponsored activities all helped to raise cash at Co-op branches across the county.

Lincolnshire Co-op Membership and Community Manager Richard Whittaker said: “The cash is still flooding in but it looks like our Getting Wiggy With It event raised more than £10,000 and we might even get close to £20,000 – an amazing achievement for just one day of fundraising.

“We’d like to say thank you to our staff who pitched in and wore silly wigs, and to our generous customers for their donations and support.”
