Get in step for flower parade

More than 50 people have stepped forward after it was announced a sponsored walk would take place to raise money for the Spalding Flower Parade.

The parade organiser Steve Timewell is currently fundraising to bring the parade back in 2023 on May 13.

The latest idea is a 12.5-mile sponsored walk around the Spalding Leisure Wheel route on Sunday, March 13.

Within half an hour of announcing it on the Spalding Flower Parade Facebook page, over 50 people had signed up to do numerous distances.

Steve said he’s looking to raise at least £1,000.

“I can’t believe how quickly people signed up for this,” he said. “I think it will be a fun event, enjoyed by all. I’m not a massive walker but I have done this route before and it’s certainly scenic.

“It’s suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities – it’s not a race, just a leisurely walk and I hope it will raise a great deal of money for the parade.”

Anyone wishing to register should send an email to [email protected] and they will receive a sponsorship pack.
