Gedney Hill Golf Club’s memorial event for Daniel raises an outstanding amount

The annual Daniel Markillie Memorial Day competition attracted 121 golfers – with some travelling from as far as Germany and Scotland.

The day saw a round of golf played at Gedney Hill Golf Club, before the players enjoyed fish and chips followed by entertainment from signer Nicole Lawrence.

An outstanding amount of £3,750 was raised on the day – of which £3,050 will be donated to the Royal Marsden Hospital London, and £350 each to East Anglian Air Ambulance and NSPCC.

Lewis Field won the men’s side of the competition, with Lynn Exley the female winner.

Results: Men’s competition – 1st Lewis Field 47pts; 2nd Graham Pollard 43; 3rd Colin Gildon 41 (ocb). Ladies’ competition – 1st Lynn Exley 40pts; 2nd Christine Lord 37; 3rd Chris Bennett 36 (ocb).

OTHER RESULTS

Seniors’ section: John Parsons Shield – 1st Rob Warlow 41pts; 2nd Keith Partridge 37pts; 3rd John George 36pts.

June Medal: Cat 1 – 1st David Lord 64; 2nd Rob Newns 69. Cat 2 – 1st Mo Parling 66; 2nd Carl Claxton 73. Cat 3 – 1st Derrick Smith 71; 2nd Don Hinshelwood 74.
