Garkalne is Ferry first female finisher

Two Halmer Harriers completed out the top ten of Saturday’s Snowden Field Parkrun at Crowland.

Richard Williams clocked 23mins 51secs for ninth place, 39 seconds ahead of clubmate Adam Caress, who was tenth.

Simon Eldridge crossed the line 14th, 25:40, and Debs Norman was 39th, 31:21.

Maija Garkalne was the first female finisher at the Ferry Meadows Parkrun in Peterborough, completing the 5K run in 21:01.

Further afield, Daz Hind came 150th of 192 finishers at the Bolberry Down run in Devon, while a trio of Harriers took on the Sence Valley Forest Parkrun in the National Forest in Leicestershire. Lisa Gill finished 101st of 226, 28:47, with Jayne Pell 186th, 38:23, and Kathryn Chapman 187th, 38:25.

The previous week at the Heckington Show ten-mile race, 13 Halmer Harriers were in action.

First home was Maija Garkalne, 83rd of 378 finishers, in 1:10:18 (3rd senior female). She was followed by James Harrison, 85th, 1:10:25; Sian Brown, 269th, 1:32:25; Andrew Hooker, 297th, 1:37:23; Joanna Neal, 303rd, 1:37:55; Linda Allard, 312th, 1:38:54 (3rd female 60-64); Lisa Gill, 321st, 1:41:40; Becky Webster, 327th, 1:42:24; Annette Gudgeon, 339th, 1:44:24 (3rd female 65-69); Andrew Prestt, 340th, 1:44:48; Hayley Wynn, 341st, 1:45:06; Bridgitte Seymour, 351st, 1:49:27; and Alexandra Gills, 366th, 1:53:06.
