Gallery – Super Sutton see off Town to stay perfect

Red-hot Long Sutton made it three wins from as many South Lincs and Border League Premier Division games this season as they saw off South Holland rivals Spalding Town on Saturday.

Five wickets from Adam Whitaker and two from Barry Stanway helped hosts Sutton bowl out Town for 151 at Paradise Field, before Dan Oldfield’s 55 steered them to 155-4 in reply.

Sutton are one of only three teams to boast a 100 per cent record in the top flight, alongside Skegness and Sleaford 2nd.

Spalding were put into bat first after Oldfield won the toss, but struggled to get going.

Only Jon Manton (51) and Nilantha Atapattu (34) looked confident as Whitaker (5-31) and Stanway (2-24) starred.

And, despite 3-35 from Harry Decamps, the hosts eased to their target in reply.
Oldfield’s 55 from 60 balls was key, while a 21 from Peter Cook (21) and big hitting from Jamie Taylor (18 not out from 15) and Stanway (18 not out from 7) saw them reach 155-4 in 31.5 overs for 20 points.

Moulton Harrox, meanwhile, registered their first win of the Premier Division season in real style.

Alex Baker (4-15) and Matt Rose (4-25) were on sensational form as hosts Harrox bowled out opponents Belton Park for just 83 at Broad Lane. Carl Lamming (1-26) also chipped in to ensure the away innings was wrapped up in 31.1 overs.

The run chase was a procession for the rampant hosts, with Ian Smith (61 not out) and Mike Kearns Snr (18 not out) blasting them to 84-0 in 10.3 overs to seal a 20-point haul.

* In Division One, Spalding 2nd suffered a big 141-run home defeat against Heckington.

A fine knock from Will Charlesworth (85) steered the visitors to 211-5 from their 45 overs, despite 2-43 from Eddie Seymour and 2-32 from Thomas Decamps.

Town were then bowled out for just 70 in reply, with only Will Steed (29) and Mohammad Alam (25) managing double figures.

* Both Long Sutton and Moulton Harrox suffered sound defeats in the Rutland League on Sunday.

In Division Three, Sutton saw their 145 chased down by Ketton (146-5) in just 28.1 overs. Josh Baker (32) impressed again with the bat, while Adam Whitaker (2-15) and Joe Whitaker (2-35) were the pick of their bowlers.

In Division Four East, Harrox (139-9) were beaten by Newborough 2nd (215-6).
Clive Bayston (43 and 2-41) was Harrox’s main man with both bat and ball.
