GALLERY Successful finals weekend sees names new and old on trophies

Jason Green lifted his third Snooker Scratch title on Saturday after seeing off team-mate Spencer Dawkins 4-0 in the show-piece match of the Spalding and District Snooker and Billiards League’s finals weekend.

Bourne Pyramid’s Green, who first lifted the President’s Cup back in 2011, beat Dawkins in straight frames.

The top team trophy up for grabs at the new venue of Spalding Services Club ended up at Holbeach as the A team of Stuart Atkin, Mark Woodberry and Wayne Dent beat Services A (Craig, Kevin and Vince Fitter) 4-2 to secure the Norey Cup.

Atkin beat Kevin Fitter 2-0, Dent shared the spoils 1-1 with Craig Fitter, and Woodberry and Vince Fitter took one each.

The action got under way on Thursday night, with the snooker Knock Out Cup final.

The match saw Consti H take on Whittlesey C, with the match going to a decider and Whittlesey walking away winners.

Friday night was the Billiards Shield Final with Pyramid B facing Donington B.

The Donington trio of Neil Reynolds, Neil Burton and Mick Pearl came out on top.

Saturday morning kicked off with the snooker mixed pairs. It was an all-Holbeach affair with Susan Lefley and Stuart Atkin taking on Dan and Rachel Mayfield. After two continuous frames, it was Lefley and Atkin who lifted the trophy.

Donington’s Mick Pearl (o14) defeated Whittlesey’s Pawel Skutela (r14) in two straight frames to lift the snooker Senior Masters trophy.

There are two new names on the Snooker Scratch Pairs, trophy as Nigel Brasier and Tony Scully (Donington) took the title for the first time, beating Chris Dunmore and Vince Fitter (Services).

Next up was the Snooker Singles/Pairs competition which saw current champions Jamie Mumby (o28) and Stuart Tamplin (scr) of Gosberton take on Holbeach pair Stuart Atkin (o49) and Dan Mayfield (o21).

In the first frame, Atkin beat Mumby knocking in a 82 break, before Tamplin made it all square, getting the better of Mayfield.

Mumby and Tamplin went ahead winning the pairs frame, before Atkin beat Tamplin taking the match to a deciding frame, where Mumby got the better of Mayfield.

Four times Billiards Scratch winner Mick Cooper was the runner-up this year as Broadway’s Gary Norman outplayed him in the first match on Sunday.

Next was the Billiards Handicap, which saw Mick Pearl (r70) lose out to Tony Curry (r60) from Bourne Pyramid.

Boundary pair Elliott Cox and Dan Smith got the better of Whittlesey’s Pawel and Andy Skutela in the snooker handicap pairs.

The weekend finished with the Snooker Handicap final, which saw last year’s runner-up Consti’s Adam Mayman (o28) get his hands on the trophy.

Mayman beat Pyramid’s Carl Kelham (r7) in a close match which went down to the black ball in the final frame.
