Future calling for phone box

A disused iconic red phone box in Crowland has begun a journey to its second calling.

The phone box was disconnected by BT years ago and the telecoms company sold it to the Crowland Parish Council adoption committee for £1.

The out of town phone box has suffered at the hands of vandals lately so this weekend was removed, will be spruced up and will return to a location in the centre of town.

Coun Nigel Pepper said they have seen lots of good uses for old phone boxes elsewhere, including mini libraries, defibrillator storage and information points.

The box and Coun Pepper will be at the Crowland Show this weekend and he is open to suggestions.
