Frost: Holbeach United have something to build on after improved performance

Holbeach United finally have something positive to build on ahead of Saturday’s Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North clash with Newark at Carter’s Park (3pm).

That’s the view of boss Gary Frost, who was impressed with the Tigers’ showing in last weekend’s 2-1 loss to high-flying Loughborough Students.

Both Aaron Eyett’s super solo strike, which ended their long wait for a league goal, and the improved team showing, have left Frost feeling much more confident of ending Holbeach’s 15-game winless streak.

“Newark is a game we can approach with a positive mindset,” said Frost, whose side are seven points adrift at the bottom. “If we play in the same way as against Loughborough, we can win this game.

“I’d go as far as saying that, if we play that way again, we can beat any of the sides that are just above us in the table.

“We proved we can compete with one of the better sides on Saturday, now it’s time to do it against a different calibre of opposition.

“The lads set new standards on Saturday and we got a goal, which has lifted a bit of a burden.

“Our potential was there for all to see last weekend, we just need to bring the same level of performance week in, week out and I’m convinced we’ll be fine.”

Frost also admitted that he’s no closer to adding any new faces to his squad after missing out on two targets last week.

He’s in the market for a left back, a physical central midfielder and a big striker to lead the line – adding he’s still “grafting” away.
