Frost feels Holbeach United were ‘a million miles better’ in Loughborough loss

Holbeach United 1 Loughborough Students 2

Aaron Eyett scored Holbeach United’s first goal in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North since way back on August 28 – but it was in vain as Loughborough Students won 2-1 at Carter’s Park.

After a goalless first period on Saturday, high-flying Loughborough moved 2-0 up thanks to goals from Dylan Edwards (59) and Olusanya Fadahunsi (70).

Eyett’s late cracker did at least end one Tigers’ hoodoo, but the result sees Gary Frost’s side fall a worrying eight points from safety at the foot.

It’s also 15 games without a win in the league, with just four goals scored and two points on the board.

“At least you can stop saying we haven’t scored for ages in the paper now,” quipped Frost. “But, to be honest, that stat should have shamed us into being better.

“And we were on Saturday, it was a million miles better than it has been. We got amongst a side that is doing very well in the league and really made them work for their win.

“I told the lads beforehand that if we can’t play pretty football, we needed to make it ugly.

“We did well in the first half and had chances to score, but once they got ahead we did what we have been doing a lot and let our heads drop.

“We then fell asleep when they countered from one of our own free-kicks and they got a second.

“But Aaron got us back into it with a great individual goal – and then we had a great chance to pinch a point, but there was a bit of confusion and we messed it up a bit.

“You never like to lose, but I felt we were unlucky not to get something and we’ll take a lot from the performance.”
