Front all at sea for talk

The next meeting of the Western Front Association is entitled The Coastal Raids of 1914 and will be delivered by Dr Scott Lingren.
The society, which was formed to promote greater understanding of the war, is next meeting at Spalding Baptist Church at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 22.
A spokesman said of the subject: “The object of these raids was to entice small numbers of Royal Navy ships into open waters where they might be lured into a trap, with repeated attacks possible persuading the ships to disperse around the coast and weakening the Grand Fleet.
“How successful was this plan? Come along on October 22 and find out.”
