First £1,000 winner of South Holland’s Green Bag Lottery recycling rewards scheme to be revealed

The stage is set to reveal the first £1,000 winner of South Holland District Council’s recycling reward scheme.

The Green Bag Lottery, which has been running since February, promotes good recycling practice.

Every four weeks, ten households are randomly and secretly selected to take part. Each one that presents recycling correctly for at least three of the four weeks is automatically awarded £100.

So far there have been 25 winners – and all of them now have the chance to win a further £1,000.

Laura Simpkins, the district council’s waste and recycling officer, said: “All 25 of the winners over the past three months have been sent a recycling questionnaire.
“All winners who return questionnaires with eight out of ten questions right will be entered into the draw.”

The draw will take place live on Tulip Radio at 10.20am on Monday, June 16.
Coun Roger Gambba-Jones, the district council’s portfolio holder for waste management, will be drawing the winner’s name out of a hat and announcing it live on air.
