Two Spalding women were among 17,000 women and some brave men who walked a marathon at the weekend all in aid of breast cancer.
Sharon Macaulay, a solicitor from Calthrops, and Tammy Staples, school secretary of Ayscoughfee Hall School, took part in the annual London Moonwalk, which started at midnight on Saturday.
Participants have to walk either a half marathon or full marathon (half or full moon) in their bras – even the men.
The theme this year was “rockability”, so there were plenty of colourful ‘50s outfits walking the streets of London in the early hours.
Sharon was walking in memory of a friend who died at the age of 39 from breast cancer and Tammy was walking it in honour of her niece, who has leukemia.
Between them, they raised more than £2,000 for the cancer charity.
They said “It was a great experience and very challenging in the tough weather conditions, but we did it in eight hours and it was well worth it.
“We are very proud of ourselves and pleased we did our bit to unite against cancer.”
