The developer battling for permission to build homes on Ye Old Dun Cow site at Cowbit has submitted a fresh application.

Market Homes Ltd has put in a new plan for nine homes on the cleared site at Barrier Bank.
And the firm is hoping that South Holland District Council will be able to authorise a quick approval so that an appeal against a decision to refuse a previous application can be dropped.

Swann Edwards Architecture is handling the application on behalf of the developer.
Gareth Edwards told the district council’s planning department: “The previous application was refused essentially on the grounds that it had not been demonstrated that continued use of the site as a public house would be financially unviable.

“The (new) application is also supported by a planning statement which assesses relevant planning policy considerations and concludes that, having regard now to the additional viability evidence, which is compelling, there are material considerations which justify the loss of the site for public house purposes and its redevelopment for housing.

“My client is hopeful that the council will now be in a position to issue an early approval thus obviating the need to continue with the current appeal.”

The long-running saga was delayed when the site was listed on the district council’s Community Asset Register last September.
Market Homes appealed the decision and the district council removed the listing after a review revealed errors in handling the application.
